Stop Categories Word Game Guide

Stop is a fun and clever turn based game you play with friends. Randomly select a letter to start and type a word for each of the 5 different categories that starts with that letter. The player that gets most correct words wins! 1 letter, 5 different categories. How many words can you form with this letter?

The game is simple enough: pick a letter at random, then do your best to find words starting with that letter that fit under the different categories (e.g. Names of Countries, Body Parts, Superheroes, and many more). There’s just one twist: you don’t know how quick your opponent is, so you have to think fast! And watch out for typos.

The game might be STOPPED by your opponent at any time without warning. You get three hearts you use to start games. The hearts get replenished after 30 minutes. If you can’t wait you can buy extra hearts to start more games right away.

This game allows users to chose a word to match the given category. There is also an option to chat with Facebook friends via the app. Any app that allows for chat may put your child at risk for sexting and bullying. Some of the categories or words chosen by opponents may expose your child to mature or sectuslly suggestive themes, or drug/alcohol references. Parents should know if their child under 18 is using any app with chat capability. Because of the adult themes in this game no child under 9 should use this app. Please visit our Parent's Guides section for more information on how to talk to your child about the risks they may be exposed to using this app.

The game shuffles categories and selects five for you to play each round. Spin the wheel to choose a letter of the alphabet. You have to name something in each category that begins with that letter within the allotted time.

Categories include:

Things that are round
Human Body parts
Oscar nominated movies
Things that shouldn’t exist
Superheros
Romantic things
Countries

You can always skip that category. You don’t need to fill everything out in order to stop the game if you can't find a word that starts with the choosen letter that fits into a category. When you go second, you need to score at least the same number of points as your opponent, in a shorter period of time. So if you answered the first category more quickly but he answered 3 categories correctly before sending you the game, he wins.

Half-stars are given out when you had the right idea, but executed it poorly. Most of the time it happens because of a typo. For a word to merit half a star, at least 75% of it needs to be spelled correctly. You earn coins by playing Stop!, watching videos and inviting friends You can spend coins to make the game more fun. For example, you can spend coins to change categories or spin the wheel to choose a different letter.

You can play against your Facebook friends or random opponents, alone or in teams. This is one game where you can play with anyone, across the miles and generations. Everyone will have different answers and enjoy the fun. After you’re done answering the questions, you’ll see your answers in green (correct), red (wrong), yellow (almost correct). You get one point for each green answer and 1/2 point for each yellow answer.

Typing quickly can lead to some misspellings, typos and other errors. Stop! will give you 1/2 point for yellow answers if it can figure out what you meant by your answer (and the answer would have been correct had you typed it properly). You need to get at least 75% of the spelling correct to earn a yellow answer and 1/2 point. So yes, spelling does count.
Stop! encourages creative thinking by awarding an R badge for rare answers. Give a correct answer that few people give and be rewarded with the R badge. In case of a tie, R badges will be used to break the tie. For example, if you and your opponent both answer all five categories correctly but you get an R badge for a rare answer, then you win that round.

You can let the developers know if you believe an answer was mistakenly marked wrong. Tap on the answer to send Fanatee (the developers) a message that the answer is actually correct. You’re then offered the option of letting them know that you believe the wrong answer is right. The developers will get to work immediately researching the answer tirelessly to include it in a future update. Or not.
